河合神社は下鴨神社の摂社として古くより祀られ、女性守護としての信仰を集めるお社である。ご祭神には神武天皇の母、玉依姫命をお祀りし、玉依姫命は玉の様に美しい事から美麗の神としての信仰も深い。河合神社ではこの美麗の祈願絵馬として鏡絵馬の授与を行っている。
手鏡の形をした絵馬(顔を表す模様が入った)にご自身の普段使用されている化粧品でメイクをしていただき、裏に願意をご記入いただくもので絵馬にご自身の綺麗な表情を描いて頂き、絵馬に願いを託すことにより外見だけでなく内面も磨いて美しくなっていただくと言う絵馬である。　　　　神社案内HP

鏡絵馬は可愛らしく個性あふれる表情で神社に奉納されていました。

The enshrined deity is Tamayorihime, the mother of Emperor Jimmu, and because Tamayorihime no Mikoto is as beautiful as a jewel, it is deeply worshiped as a god of beauty. You can apply your makeup to the hand mirror-shaped ema (with a pattern that represents your face) with the cosmetics you usually use, and write your wishes on the back of the ema.
